If you read my blog “My story making financial dreams become a reality as a want to be entrepreneur”. You may get the sense that it was an easy and smooth road. Well, it wasn’t. I made many mistakes along the way and failed many times to the point of almost giving up and working a job full time. So if you are ready to quit the 9-5 and work for yourself then continue to read on. The rest of this blog will be to help you eliminate the mistakes I made so you don’t have to go through the same. Here is my cheat code to financial freedom with 7 steps.

STEP 1: KNOW WHAT YOU WANT

Step one may sound obvious but it is one of the most important steps to making financial dreams become a reality as a want to be entrepreneur.

Know what you want doesn’t mean you have to know what business venture you want to start or how you want to make your money. You will figure that out as you go along.

In this case know what you want relates to one question only. Are you willing to commit yourself 100% until you make it? Are you fully committed to becoming your own boss and to quit the 9-5 ?

This is what will be your motivation if you do fail. You have to want it and decide you want it. The mind is an incredible machine.

STEP 2: FIND A PART TIME JOB THAT ALLOWS YOU TO COVER YOUR BILLS WITH SOME SAVINGS LEFT OVER

There are many jobs around the world that offer part time positions for people with no experience. With that being said, when you are searching think broader than your own country or town.

To narrow your search some of the more common jobs to find that pay well for part time positions are waiter or bartender jobs, teaching English in foreign countries, Workaway where you can work for hostels part time overseas.

Why part time specifically? I say part time because you need a lot of time to focus on your goals and dreams. If you work full time, you will burn out extremely fast and ultimately fail.

What are the best websites to find jobs on?

1: Indeed job search

2: LinkedIn

3: Up Work

4. Teach Online

STEP 3:  INVEST IN YOURSELF

If you are anything like me, you probably unsure about what you are good at and what you truly enjoy. I think most people have a disconnect between the two and if you can find the connect you will cruise through your journey whilst having fun.

Online there are millions of different courses and learning platforms. Play around with a few and see what takes your interest.

For example, search LinkedIn learning on google and create an account. You will get a month trial and after it will only cost you about 30 dollars a month. Here you can find short courses on anything with getting a certificate at the end. I wanted to make my money online so I decided to do the basics first such as copy writing courses, email marketing. Facebook ads and so on.

Keep learning and keep growing until you have figured out what you like best.

quit the 9-5

STEP 4: GET CONNECTING, TALKING AND RESEARCHING

This step may seem arbitrary but it seriously is important. The reason I suggest trying for jobs in different countries or cities is because this is where you truly get to network and find information first hand.

Learn to surround yourself with people that are beneficial to your journey. This can be done by simply going out and learning how to talk to strangers or meeting on Facebook meet up groups.

Now that you have done some studying and understand different jargons and business terms put it to use.

Again, this might sound weird but teach yourself how to structure a conversation which leads to a more business mindset chat. Learn to ask questions about how people are making their money and what they have done etc.

All it takes is one conversation or one person to change your entire life.

STEP 5: LOOK FOR A WAY TO RUN A BUSINESS WITH LOW START UP COSTS

Hold on, don’t quit your part time job yet.

This step is vital. There are so many new and exciting ways to make money with extremely low costs. This limits risks as its your first business.

For example, through step four I came into a conversation about something called drop shipping. I did the research and what it entailed was selling products online for manufactures.  This meant I didn’t have to purchase any products beforehand and spend lots of money starting up.  This was great because I did all the courses on copy write and Facebook ads etc.

Now had I not heard about drop shipping I would have been in a lot of financial troubles because my first 5 online stores failed. I would have lost so much money beyond my resources that I wouldn’t have made a comeback at all. Because I was patient and had many conversations, I was able to carry on until I made a success.

I will touch up on the failure subject on my blog “Fail smart and you can fail all you like”.

STEP 6: GROW YOUR BUSINESS ONES IT HAS STARTED TAKING OFF

Now that your business has started taking off in the market you are able to scale up with the money it is already earning. This again limits the risk of financial failure.

For example, one of my dropshipping stores started making money I was able to scale my store by using a fulfillment warehouse which is basically my own warehouse that I hold my own products in. This made shipping times faster and I was able to buy quantity deals.

STEP 7: FINALLY, QUIT YOUR PART TIME JOB

Although there is no final step to any roadmap in becoming an entrepreneur, this step is most definitely one of the most rewarding. When you have scaled your business and you start taking a salary you will be able to quit your part time job and become a full-time entrepreneur and business owner.

In closing this blog post here is another tip I want to give you whilst you are on your journey.

If you make it through to step six remember that learning and growing never stops. If you are currently in step six don’t ignore steps 2 to 5. New opportunities pop up every single day and the more you practice this throughout your life the higher chance you have of being ahead of the next big thing.
